Annotation: This skills‐building session provides participants with the knowledge and skills to determine the most appropriate NPMs based on state needs as part of the transformation of Title V; the workshop also focuses on development of state‐initiated Structure/Process measures. The transformation of Title V is almost complete and signifies a new era for MCH programs. During 2014‐15, state Title V programs will be completing five‐year needs assessments to select a new set of state MCH priorities and state performance measures; with the implementation of MCH 3.0, states also will select a subset of national performance measures (NPMs). In 2016, each Title V program will need to develop state‐initiated Structure and Process Measures to directly measure their impact on the NPMs.

Annotation: This four-part series, hosted by the National MCH Workforce Development Center, focuses on how change management benefits the Title V workforce. Coffee Talk 1: Title V Transformation provides a brief overview of the major changes in the Title V Block Grant guidance related to the new performance measures, Five Year State Action Plan, and emphasis on documenting family engagement in all areas throughout the life course. Coffee Talk 2: Getting to the Table provides provocative questions to consider as Title V professionals seek out a "seat at the table" (or work to create a new table) in the new opportunities evolving from the Title V Block Grant and health transformation in the states. Coffee Talk 3: Leading Change ​focuses on pertinent leadership skills using Dan Heath's process for leading change, followed by Karen Trierweiler's personal experience of leading change in Colorado's Department of Public Health and Environment. Annotation: This archived webinar introduces a comprehensive self-assessment tool that helps Title V agencies assess health reform-related activities in states. The tool can help define a state's capacity and opportunities to leverage existing MCH skills to drive health transformation - in all its forms - for MCH populations. Iowa recently completed the tool and had this to say: "This tool was helpful for us to think about how Iowa's Title V program interfaces with the health care reform activities going on in our state. It helped us identify areas of strength and provided direction on important next steps as we move MCH forward post ACA implementation. Hopefully, other states will use the tool to ignite conversations in their states".

Annotation: This self-paced course provides an introduction to the Competing Values Framework (CVF) for leaders and supervisors. The course is divided into two modules. The first module introduces CVF and the various roles of a supervisor. The second module addresses the issue of skill mastery. Several interactive learning strategies are employed in order to help participants apply the material to their current work. This course helps participants to prioritize their roles as a supervisor, reflect on their skills and challenges, and develop an action plan for skill mastery and personal growth. The course also provides a robust resource list of websites, documents, and books.

Learning Objectives: • Describe the competing values framework. • Identify the eight potentially conflicting roles played by supervisors. • Prioritize roles most appropriate for a supervisor to employ given a situational challenge. • Describe the five steps to mastery. • Assess personal challenges, identify areas for further development and develop a plan for change. • Describe the importance of self knowledge and assessment in understanding the impact of one's behavior on others.
