This video covers the history of the Head Start program in the U.S., starting with the social and political climate of the 1960s and continuing through the 45th anniversary of the program in 2010. The video describes the changes made to the program over its lifespan, including expansions to a full year and full day program as well as its transition to being fully-funded by the federal government. The presentation concludes with the number of children served in the program and an emphasis on the program’s mission- to ensure that children are prepared to succeed.
